Preface:
The following speech was delivered by actor-entertainer Mayf Nutter at the Seventh Annual Awards Show of the Country Music Association of America at the Hacienda Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada for the introduction of Dr. Randolph M. Howes, M.D., Ph. D.

"Dr. Randolph Howes will be one of history's truly great men.  He is a man who has received the love and respect of both his patients and his peers and still believes deeply in the decency of humanity.  He has made a major advance in the care of critically ill patients.

"First and foremost, he is the ultimate physician, completely dedicated to his patients and their well being.  He is one of a vanishing breed who believes that, above all else, the patient always comes first.

"He is a friend of the desperately poor, especially the physically disfigured and deformed children of the Philippines and is now an internationally recognized plastic surgeon, author, inventor and humanitarian.  He is a man who has keen feelings towards the ill, the less fortunate, the disfigured and to his fellow man, and he has carried his burden of responsibility with the strength of many men.

"Dr. Howes is a 'pioneer' in the field of the biochemistry of free radicals and antioxidants.  His initial work was performed at the Tulane's history to complete a Ph.D. in Bio-chemistry concurrent with his M.D. degree.  He received double doctorate degrees on the same day!  He was then accepted into the surgery program at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital where he was the first in its history to complete board requirements in both general and plastic surgery in a straight six year interval, while simultaneously writing scientific papers, music, poetry, and the forefront of body rejuvenation and the surgery of appearance, while his biochemical background has kept him at the edge of research as it relates to overall health, longevity and 'wellness.'

"He has published widely on the arcane complexities of free radicals and excited state chemistry.  He is now applying over two decades of research studying antioxidant scavenging systems and nutrition.

"As a visionary, he invented the triple lumen catheter which has helped save the lives of nearly ten million critically ill patients worldwide.  As a humanitarian, has been recognized by the Philippine Minister of Health, the Governors of Louisiana and Massachusetts and Nevada and the President of the United States.  As a "good ole boy entertainer," he has charted number one records, performed in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry and teamed up in fund raisers with Joan Rivers."

Mayf Nutter - Past Director of the New Christy Minstrels; acting appearances on:   Murder She Wrote, Knots Landing, Gunsmoke and many shows and movies as well as Las Vegas entertainer.

Then the CMAA presented Dr. Howes with its prestigious Humanitarian of The Year Award and Nevada Governor, Hon. Bob Miller, issued a proclamation declaring October 17, 1993 a day in honor of Dr. Randolph M. Howes for the entire state of Nevada and Las Vegas.
